Two Monks Ordained To Priesthood May 21

Two Benedictines of Saint Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, were ordained to the priesthood at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21 by Most Rev. Edward C. Malesic, J.C.L., Bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg, in the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. Brother Pio Adamonis, III, is from Upland, near Philadelphia, while Brother Matthew Lambert, O.S.B., is from Port St. Lucie, Florida.

FATHER PIO ADAMONIS III

Father Pio is the son of Peter P. and Catherine Adamonis of Upland. He has two sisters, Debbie of Boothwyn and Lisa Kei of San Diego, and one brother, Michael, of Upland.

He is a 1986 graduate of Saint James High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Penn State University in 1990.

He entered the novitiate of Saint Vincent Archabbey in 2008, made simple profession of vows on July 10, 2009 and began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in the fall of 2009. He made solemn profession of monastic vows on July 11, 2012. He was ordained to the diaconate on April 25, 2015 by Bishop Lawrence E. Brandt of the Diocese of Greensburg.

His work at the Archabbey includes serving as an assistant in the infirmary chapel (2008-2009), assistant archivist (2009-2010), and an assistant in audio and video production for the Fred Rogers Center (2009-2010). He is as an assistant for audio and video production in the Archabbey Public Relations Office (2009-present, and since 2010, he has served as assistant golf coach for Saint Vincent College as well as sacristan and assistant master of ceremonies for the Archabbey.

FATHER MATTHEW C. LAMBERT, O.S.B.

Father Matthew is the son of W. Clair Lambert of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Nancy Roth of Boise, Idaho. His brother is Danny Lambert of Washington, D.C.

He is a 2004 graduate of Coral Reef Senior High School, Miami, Florida. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in English literature in 2008 from Florida State University. He earned the master of divinity degree, magna cum laude, from Saint Vincent Seminary, and the baccalaureate of sacred theology degree, magna cum laude, conferred through the Pontifical Athenaeum of Sant’ Anselmo, Rome, in 2016. He also was presented with the Honorable Judge Bernard F. Scherer Award.

He entered the novitiate of Saint Vincent Archabbey in 2009 and made simple profession of monastic vows on July 9, 2010, and solemn profession of vows on July 11, 2013. He was ordained to the diaconate on April 25, 2015 by Bishop Lawrence E. Brandt of the Diocese of Greensburg.

While at Saint Vincent, he has served as assistant building manager, monastery maintenance (2010-2015) and counselor in the Academic Affairs Office, Saint Vincent College (2010-2011). Since 2011 he has been socius of novices. He will begin additional graduate studies in Rome in the fall.
