Two men have entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, where they will spend a year in prayer and study to discern vocations as Benedictine monks. Both Pennsylvania residents, they are from Pittsburgh and Fredericktown, Washington County.
BROTHER BRIAN DEFAZIO, N.O.S.B.
Brian A. DeFazio of Pittsburgh entered the novitiate of Saint Vincent Archabbey on July 1, 2014. He is the son of Victor and Carol DeFazio of Pittsburgh. He has one brother, Jonathan.
A 2009 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, he earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy/history from Duquesne University in 2013. He studied at Saint Paul Seminary, Pittsburgh, while a student at Duquesne.
DeFazio has participated in Boy Scouts of America, where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
BROTHER TIMOTHY O’BROCKTA, N.O.S.B.
Timothy A. O’Brockta of Fredericktown entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey on July 1, 2014. He is a son of the late Andrew and Louise O’Brockta. He is a 1985 graduate of Bethlehem Center High School, and a 1989 graduate of Community College of Beaver County, where he earned an associate degree in aviation. He has worked as a professional pilot.
