Three To Make Solemn Vows

Three monks of Saint Vincent Archabbey will profess solemn vows, or vows for life at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11 in the Archabbey Basilica. They are Father Killian Loch, O.S.B., of Wilkes-Barre; Brother Canice McMullen, O.S.B., of State College, and Brother Joachim Morgan, O.S.B., of White Lake, Michigan. Father Killian is currently director of Campus Ministry at Saint Vincent College. Brother Canice is an assistant to the director of vocations and Brother Joachim is an assistant in the Oblate office. Brother Canice and Brother Joachim are also students at Saint Vincent Seminary.

FATHER KILLIAN (RICHARD) LOCH, O.S.B.

Father Killian (Richard) Loch, O.S.B., is the son of Frank J. Loch of Wilkes-Barre and the late Catherine Durkin Loch. He is a graduate of Saint Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Scranton in 1975; a master of divinity degree in theology from Saint John Seminary, Brighton, Massachusetts and a master of education degree in administration from Boston College in 1989.

He was ordained a deacon in the Diocese of Scranton by Bishop James C. Timlin in 1978 and ordained a priest of that diocese by Bishop J. Carroll McCormick on September 1, 1979.
He entered the Saint Vincent Benedictine community as a novice on July 1, 2010, and made simple profession of vows in 2011.

Prior to coming to Saint Vincent, his work as a priest in the Diocese of Scranton included serving for two years as a director of religious formation and five years as principal of a diocesan high school (1985-1992), working in three pastoral assignments (1992-2005); serving as regional vicar for the diocese (2005-2006); and working as vicar for priests for the diocese (2006-2010).
In 2011, he was appointed director of Campus Ministry at Saint Vincent College. In 2013 he began co-authoring the Sunday Homily column that appears on the Archabbey website as well as in The Catholic Accent, Greensburg diocesan newspaper.

Father Killian has been active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, serving as chairman of its National Service Committee (2009-2010) and a member from 2002-2010.

BROTHER CANICE MCMULLEN, O.S.B.

Brother Canice (Daniel) McMullen, O.S.B., is the son of Craig and Ruth McMullen of State College. He is a 2006 graduate of State College Area High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University in 2010.

He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey in 2010 and made simple profession of vows in 2011. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2011.

He served as assistant to the Business Office (2011-2012) and the Archabbey Investment Committee (2011-present). He was named assistant to the director of Archabbey Finances and Investments in 2012 and sacristan in 2012, and has served as assistant to the master of ceremonies for the Saint Vincent Archabbey (2011-present), and assistant to the director of vocations (2011-present).

BROTHER JOACHIM MORGAN, O.S.B.

Brother Joachim Morgan, O.S.B., of Saint Vincent Archabbey is the son of Charles and Laura Morgan of White Lake, Michigan. He is a 2006 graduate of Ludington High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in French from Central Michigan University in 2009.
He entered the novitiate of Saint Vincent Archabbey in 2010, and made simple profession of vows in 2011. He enrolled at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2011.

In 2011, He served as assistant of the assistant to the manager at the Saint Vincent Gristmill General Store (2011-2013) and assistant for the summer retreat program (2011-present). In 2013 he was named assistant to the director of the Oblate Program.
