Solemn Vows Professed

After spending a year as a novice and three years in temporary vows, Brother Francis Jin, O.S.B., of Shanghai Province, China,  professed solemn vows, or vows for life, on July 11 at Saint Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Pennsylvania, before Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B.

Brother Francis Jin is the son of Wuxing Jin and Xuezhen Li of Xi’an, Shanghai Province, China.
He graduated from Zhouzhi No. 6 High School, Xi’an, in 2005. He earned a bachelor of electrical engineering degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2009. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2016, and in 2018, he received the master of arts degree in Catholic philosophical studies.
He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey on July 1, 2015 and made simple profession of monastic vows on July 10, 2016. He professed solemn vows on July 11, 2019.
Following his first profession of vows his assignments have included assistant to the prior (2016-present); assistant to the director of the college bookstore (2016-2018; vocation office guestmaster (2018-present); socius of novices (2017-present), socius of postulants (2019-present).
