The Saint Vincent Schola Gregoriana will join the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Manfred Honeck and The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh for three performances of the “Requiem Mass For Mozart” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 4-6, at Heinz Hall.

Twelve college students, parishioners from Saint Vincent Basilica Parish and seminarians from Saint Vincent Seminary will join seven monks of the Archabbey in the performance, under the direction of Maestro Honeck. The event will be part of Maestro Honeck’s unique reading of the Requiem Mass of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The performances will include the entire Requiem, along with other sacred music of Mozart, also incorporating Scriptural readings, biographical readings from the letters of Mozart and four chants from the Schola Gregoriana.

Father Stephen Concordia, O.S.B., is the Archabbey choirmaster. Other monks who will chant in the schola include Brother Maximilian Maxwell, O.S.B., Brother Isidore Minerd, O.S.B., Brother Cassiano de Souza, O.S.B., Father Jean-Luc Zadroga, O.S.B., Father Boniface Hicks, O.S.B., and Father Aaron Buzzelli, O.S.B., Jeffery Wright, a postulant at the Archabbey, as well as Father Stephen.

The monks of the Schola Gregoriana sing at the 7:30 a.m. conventual Mass each Sunday in the Archabbey Basilica.
