Saint Vincent Anniversary Book Prepublication Sales Offer

In honor of the Basilica’s anniversary, Archabbey Publications will release a 344-page picture book on its history, featuring more than 275 color photos and over 90 historic photos of the Basilica. Edited by Kim Metzgar, Director of Archabbey Public Relations, the book was co-authored by Father Brian D. Boosel, O.S.B., Brother Nathan M. Cochran, O.S.B., and Father Philip M. Kanfush, O.S.B.

Using modern technology to restore deteriorating images made on glass plate negatives, some of which have never been published, as well as large format photography which captures the Basilica’s grandeur, this book pulls together much of the published history of the Basilica and Saint Vincent Parish, and the words of those who witnessed many of the significant periods in the Basilica’s history, including the construction and its consecration in 1905.

The previously published works include the history of the Sportsman’s Hall Parish by Father Omer U. Kline, O.S.B., a reprint of the rare book commemorating the Basilica’s consecration in 1905 by the late Father Louis G. Haas, a description of the elements of the Basilica by the late Father Melvin C. Rupprecht, O.S.B., and a reprint of a booklet on the windows of the crypt by the late Father Quentin Schaut, O.S.B.

Also included in the book will be a map of the Basilica by Bill Metzger of Confluence.

Saint Vincent Archabbey Publications is offering a special pre-publication discount of $29.99 for the softcover and $49.99 for the hardcover editions of the book to those ordering before August 16. Orders can be made online at www.stvincentstore.com or by sending payment plus $7 per book for shipping, handling and tax to Archabbey Publications, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, Pa., 15650-2690.
