The Saint Vincent monastic community welcomed six new novices on July 1.
BERNARD (HAL) CLINE, N.O.S.B.
Brother Bernard (Hal) Cline, N.O.S.B., is a 1982 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts where he received a bachelor of fine arts degree. Upon graduating from the school’s classical theater program, he spent the next decade in New York on stage and in television commercials.
He eventually worked in North Carolina with a real estate pension advisor as a commercial lease negotiator for institutional real estate portfolios. This work led to an opportunity in Florida in the early 1990s. In 2012 he was received into the Catholic Church.
GILBERT (KAGAN) HEATER, N.O.S.B.
Brother Gilbert (Kagan) Heater, N.O.S.B., is the son of Richard W. and Diane O. Heater of East Stroudsburg. He has three brothers, Nathaniel, Jered and Zephon. He studied at Lancaster Bible College, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in music composition in 2009. He also studied at Liberty University.
BASIL (RYAN) HROBAK, N.O.S.B.
Brother Basil (Ryan) Hrobak, N.O.S.B., is the son of Robert and Lorraine Hrobak of Spring Church. He has one brother, Evan. He is a 2007 graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School. He earned a bcahelor of arts degree in theology and political science from Saint Vincent College in 2011. Following undergraduate work he earned a juris doctor degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2014. He then earned a master in theological studies degree from Harvard Divinity School in 2016.
ANDREW (DONGHA) KIM, N.O.S.B.
Brother Andrew (Dongha) Kim, N.O.S.B., is the son of Ji Hyun and Heong Suk Kim. He was born in Seoul, Korea and has one sibling, Kyeong Ha Kim. He attended Tiong-Jin Elementary School and graduated in 2004 from Shin-Sung High School. He earned a master of theology degree from Suwon Catholic University in 2012. He is preparing for missionary service at the community’s Wimmer Priory in Taiwan.
REV. AUGUSTINE (PIN-YU) YANG, N.O.S.B.
Father Augustine Yang, N.O.S.B., is the son of Li-yue Lin and the late Ye-si Yang of Taipei City, Taiwan. He attended Taipei Municipal Yucheng elementary school and graduated in 1991 from Heng Yee Catholic High School. He studied philosophy at Saint Pius X Seminary, then earned the bachelor of sacred theology degree from Fu Jen Catholic University in 1997. He completed a master of arts degree in counseling psychology in 2002 at De La Salle University, the Philippines. Father Augustine was ordained to the priesthood on December 13, 2003 in Yilan City, Taiwan.
ANSELM (STEVEN) ZHANG, N.O.S.B.
Brother Anselm (Steven) Zhang, N.O.S.B., is from China. He is a 1993 graduate of Xingtai Huining High School. He studied marriage and family in 2013 at the International Theological Institute, Austria, and English and international communication in 2003 at Yantai Norman University, China. He earned an A.A. degree in international business from the School of Business, Peking University, China, in 1996 and an A.A. degree in applied English from North China Electric Power University in 1996.
