New Jersey Man Makes First Vows

After spending a year as a novice, Brother Angelo Lichtenstein, O.S.B., of Sandyston, New Jersey, professed simple vows as a Benedictine monk before Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B., on July 10, 2019 at Saint Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He will spend three years as a junior monk prior to making solemn profession of vows, or vows for life.

Brother Angelo (Kurt) Lichtenstein is the son of Gary Lichtenstein and Maria Alampi of Sandyston, New Jersey. His sister is Emily Lichtenstein of Newton, New Jersey. He is a 2008 graduate of Kittatinny Regional High School in Newton. He earned a bachelor of science degree in physics from The Citadel in 2012.

He entered the monastic community of Saint Vincent Archabbey in 2018 and professed simple vows on July 10, 2019.

Following profession he was assigned as assistant to the Archabbot, assistant organist, assistant for monastery music, Sunday and feast day schola director and calendarius.

He is enrolled at Saint Vincent Seminary for the fall 2019 semester.
