Monks To Make Solemn Vows

Three monks will make solemn profession of vows, or vows for life, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11 in the Archabbey Basilica.

Brother Ignatius Camello, O.S.B., is the son of Reynaldo and Desideria Camello of Cotabato City, the Philippines. He graduated from Notre Dame High School for Boys in the Philippines in 1988. He earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Notre Dame University, Cotabato City, the Philippines, in 1992. He came to the United States in 2001 and worked as an intensive care unit nurse for 13 years in Los Angeles, California. He began discerning a vocation and became a novice of Saint Vincent Archabbey on July 1, 2013. He professed simple vows on July 10, 2014 and began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in the fall of 2014.

Brother Matthew D. Hershey, O.S.B., is the son of Bob and Mary Hershey of State College. He is a graduate of State College Area High School. He earned a degree in special education from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2008. He became a novice of Saint Vincent Archabbey on July 1, 2013 and professed simple vows on July 10, 2014. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in the fall of 2014.

Father Robert Keffer was born in Connellsville, PA in 1956. He attended the Ivy School of Professional Artt in Pittsburgh, and the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, and received an associate degree. He entered the Cistercian Abbey of Our Lady of Spring Bank in Sparta, WI, in 1989, made his solemn vows in 1993, and was ordained a priest in 1995. He studied at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, Saint Johns University in Collegeville, and at the Angelicum in Rome, Italy. His monastic formation took place at the Abbey of Hauterive in Switzerland. He came to Saint Vincent in May 2014 and will be making his final transfer of vows. He is a hospital chaplain for Excela Health in Latrobe and works with Campus Ministry at Seton Hill University as of 2015.
