Saint Vincent Archabbey will dedicate the Mary, Mother of Mercy Mausoleum Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8. The new mausoleum chapel is open to Catholic families from throughout the region, along with parishioners, alumni and neighbors who have looked to Saint Vincent as a place of worship, prayer and lifelong friendships. The Mary, Mother of Mercy Chapel offers a place for quiet meditation to remember and to pray for departed loved ones. Tours will be available following the ceremony.

The Mausoleum provides niches for cremains, full body burials, as well as side-by-side burials. Walls of remembrance also honor loved ones who were part of the Saint Vincent community as alumni or friends who may be buried elsewhere. A special memorial area is also available for veterans.

An arched entryway leads to a vaulted rotunda with a replica of Michaelangelo’s Pieta at its center. Skylights offer soft, natural light. Chapels dedicated to Saints Benedict and Scholastica provide a place for the rite of committal and daily prayer. The chapel corridors pay honor to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the angels.

Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B., and members of the Benedictine community, will dedicate and bless the mausoleum chapel, located at the entrance of the Saint Vincent Cemetery grounds.

For over 200 years the cemetery has been a home and final resting place for Saint Vincent parishioners, alumni of the College and Seminary, and monks from the Archabbey.

The mausoleum can be reached by turning north onto Saint Vincent Drive from Route 30, making a left onto Brouwers Drive, and then a right into the cemetery.
