2014 Winter Heart to Heart

The winter 2014 edition of Heart to Heart, newsletter of Saint Vincent Archabbey, features Archbishop Rino Fisichella, president of the Pontifical Council on the New Evangelization, who came to give the Pope Benedict XVI lecture in February. Abbot Primate Notker Wolf was honored at the fall honors convocation. Brother Michael Antonacci and Brother John Paul Heiser were ordained to the diaconate. Father Bonaventure Curtis was named Development Office director. Brother Isaac Haywiser and Brother Matthew Lambert professed solemn vows while Brother Lawrence Machia professed simple vows. Maximilian Maxwell and Jeremiah Lange were ordained to the priesthood. Father Justin Nolan, O.S.B., was named a Saint Vincent College Alumnus of Distinction. Several books by monks, including So We Do Note Lose Heart, Flowers in the Desert, The Psalms and the Saint Vincent Seminary From Its Origins To The Present, were converted into e-books. The 2013 General Chapter of the American-Cassinese Congregation was held at Saint Vincent. Father Donald Raila, O.S.B., authored an article on how Saint Vincent helped educate Civil War orphans and Saint Vincent Gallery hosted an exhibit on the work of Brother Cosmas Wolf, O.S.B. The monastic community lost four prominent members, including Father Demetrius Dumm, Father Sebastian Samay, Father Francis Ehnat and Father Paschal Kneip.
