Saint Vincent planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the fire of January 28, 1963, and the cover of this issue and center spread reflect this. Francis Cardinal Arinze had a scheduled visit in the spring to mark the 50th anniversary of Vatican II. The Catholic Church, including Saint Vincent, prepared to celebrate the Year of Faith. The apostolic nuncio, Carlo Maria Viganó also visited the Archabbey. Father Prior Earl Henry was named a Saint Vincent College Alumnus of Distinction. Archbishop Wilton Gregory visited campus to give a lecture on behalf of the Saint Benedict Education Foundation. Father Francis Ehnat and Father Nathanael Polinski were ordained to the priesthood. The passing of Father Gilbert Burke, O.S.B., is also noted in this issue, as was his final call to complete funding for the Basilica organ, a project that was dear to his heart.
