Four to Renew Vows

Four junior monks at Saint Vincent Archabbey will renew vows at 5 p.m. Friday, July 10 in the Archabbey Basilica. After spending a year in the novitiate, monks profess simple vows, then renew their vows twice before professing solemn vows after four years of prayer and contemplation.

Brother Michael Antonacci, O.S.B.

Brother Michael A. Antonacci, of Jeannette, is the son of Jerome and Sheila Antonacci and has one brother, Jared, also of Jeannette. Brother Michael, a 2003 graduate of Hempfield High School, is a 2007 graduate of Saint Vincent College, where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics and physics with highest honors.

He entered the novitiate in July 2007 and made simple profession of vows the following year. In 2008, he was named assistant miller for the Saint Vincent Gristmill as well as teaching assistant for the Saint Vincent College Physics Department. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2008.

Gabriel Myriam Kurzawski, O.S.B.

Brother Gabriel Myriam Kurzawski, O.S.B., is the son of Dennis and Mary Kurzawski of Carnegie. He is a 2003 graduate of Carlynton Junior-Senior High School. He graduated from Saint John’s University, Queens, New York, in May of 2007 with a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy.

He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey in July, 2007 and professed simple vows the following year. He was assigned as a sacristan, assistant to the master of ceremonies, assistant to the director of vocations and an assistant in the summer retreat program.

He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2008.

Brother Jeremiah Lange, O.S.B.

Brother Jeremiah Lange, O.S.B., of Kissimmee, Florida is the son of George L. Lange of Murrysville and the late Margaret Meixelsberger. He is a 1974 graduate of Plum Senior High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Slippery Rock University in 1996, a Master of Arts/Ed.S. degree in counseling from the University of South Carolina in 2001, and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Florida in 2005. He was employed as a district counselor of secondary education in the Osceola City School District; Park Place Behavioral Center, Kissimmee, as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor; a doctoral fellow at the University of Florida, and a psychometrist at the Counseling and Human Development Center of the University of South Carolina.

He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey in July, 2007 and professed simple vows the following year. In 2008, he was named a student advisor in the Opportunity Program at Saint Vincent College, assistant archivist, assistant director of the Oblate program, and assistant baker of Saint Vincent bread. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2008.

Brother Maximilian Maxwell, O.S.B.

Brother Maximilian Maxwell, O.S.B., of Philadelphia is the son of the late Robert Luke and Susan Maxwell. He is a 1992 graduate of West Philadelphia Catholic High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication and religious studies from Saint Vincent College in 2007. Prior to entering the monastery he worked as an account manager for Kevin Kelly in Philadelphia. He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey in July, 2007 and professed simple vows the following year. In 2008 he was named assistant campus minister for athletics and assistant director of Archabbey guests and facilities.

He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2008.
