Four monks of Saint Vincent Archabbey will profess solemn vows, or vows for life before Archabbot Martin de Porres Bartel, O.S.B., on Friday, July 11 at 4 p.m. at the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. They are from Lafayette, New Jersey; Odenton, Maryland; Windsor, New York and Columbus, Ohio.
BROTHER FINNBAR McEVOY, O.S.B.
Brother Finnbar McEvoy, O.S.B., of Lafayette, New Jersey, is a 2009 graduate of High Point Regional High School, Wantage, New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in math from The Catholic University of America in 2013. His minors were in physics, theology and philosophy. He received a Master of Education degree in high school math education from the University of Notre Dame in 2015 and was a teacher prior to pursuing the monastic life.
He professed simple vows on March 22, 2021, as a monk of Saint Mary’s Abbey, Morristown, New Jersey before transferring his vows to Saint Vincent in early 2024.
He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2022 and earned the Master of Arts in Catholic Philosophical Studies, summa cum laude, from Saint Vincent Seminary in 2023. His appointments include assistant to the director of vocations and assistant to the prior (2024-present). He was named to the Archabbey Formation Committee in 2024.
Brother Finnbar has tutored students at Saint Vincent College in physics and has assisted with retreats through the College Campus Ministry and the Archabbey Vocations Office. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as Grand Knight of the Catholic University Council 9542 for a one-year term. He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma and received the President’s Award of Catholic University.
He is the son of Doreen Anne Binns of Hardyston, New Jersey and the late Timothy Patrick McEvoy. He is one of five children, including Meghan (John) Hornyak of Lafayette, New Jersey; Kristin (Brian) Barry of Andover, New Jersey; Shannon (Mark) Wilhelm of Washington, New Jersey and Brendan McEvoy of Mammoth Mountain, California.
BROTHER JOSE ROSA, O.S.B.
Brother José (Alex James) Rosa, O.S.B., of Odenton, Maryland, graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School in 2016, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Saint Vincent College in 2020, majoring in philosophy and politics.
He entered the novitiate of Saint Vincent Archabbey on July 1, 2020, and made simple, or first profession of vows, on July 10, 2021, before Archabbot Martin de Porres Bartel, O.S.B.
A student at Saint Vincent Seminary, his assignments at the Archabbey include sacristan/assistant master of ceremonies (2021-present) and assistant to the director of Campus Ministry (2021-present).
While at Saint Vincent College he was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Fraternity, Pi Sigma Alpha Honors Fraternity for political science students, and an admission ambassador for the Admission Office.
He was a deputy grand knight of the Saint Vincent Council of Knights of Columbus from 2017-2020, event coordinator for the Saint Vincent Respect Life Club, and was heavily involved with Campus Ministry, assisting with the Ignite Retreats, the Festival of Praise Ministry and as a men’s small group leader.
He is the son of Alex Rosa Jr. and Margaret Rosa of Odenton, Maryland. He has a sister, Mary Rosa Saldaña of Fresno, California.
BROTHER BEDE MAXSON, O.S.B.
Brother Bede (Anthony) Maxson, O.S.B., of New Windsor, New York, is a 2016 graduate of Cornwall Central High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace administration and operations in 2019 from Oklahoma State University. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Catholic philosophical studies from Saint Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, New York in 2021. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in the fall of 2022.
He entered the monastic community of Saint Vincent Archabbey as a novice on July 1, 2021, and professed simple vows on July 10, 2022.
Following his first profession he was assigned as sacristan and vocation office guestmaster. In 2023, he was given the additional assignment of assistant to the director of vocations.
During his college years he was a member of the Cowboy Marching Band and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Alpha Chapter. At home he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima Council. He is also a second degree black belt in Soo Bahk Do.
He is the son of Jeff and Danielle Maxson of New Windsor, New York. He is the oldest of seven children.
BROTHER ROMAN PALLONE, O.S.B.
Brother Roman Pallone, O.S.B., graduated from Saint Francis DeSales High School, Columbus, in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University in 1991, and a Master of Business Administration degree from The Ohio State University in 1999. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in the fall of 2022.
He entered the monastic community of Saint Vincent Archabbey as a novice on July 1, 2021. He professed simple vows on July 10, 2022.
His assignments at the abbey include serving as assistant to the prior and assistant to the building manager (2022-present), and assistant to the director of vocations (2023-2024). In 2024, he was named a sacristan and assistant master of ceremonies for the Archabbey. In the summer of 2023, he assisted with the Saint Vincent College Benedictine Outdoor Leadership program.
He is the son Mary Pallone of Gahanna, Ohio and the late James Pallone. He has six siblings, Vincent Pallone, Noah Pallone, Nicholas Pallone, Gina Pallone Whalen, Teresa Pallone Bowman and Marie Pallone, all of Columbus.
