Father Maurus Mount Named Parochial Vicar at Saint Vincent Parish

Father Maurus Mount, O.S.B., has been named parochial vicar at Saint Vincent Basilica Parish, effective August 1, 2007.

The son of Frank E. and Alina M. Mount of Indialantic, Florida, he is a 1996 graduate of Melbourne High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in classical languages from Marquette University in 2000. He was awarded the bachelor of Sacred Theology by the Seminary on May 5, 2006. In the summer of 2007 he studied Latin in Rome under Latin Scholar Fr. Reginald Foster.

He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey in July of 2001, and made his first vows on July 10, 2002 . He made solemn profession of monastic vows on July 11, 2005 and was ordained to the diaconate on September 28, 2005. On May 20, 2006, he was ordained a priest in the Archabbey Basilica by The Most Reverend Lawrence E. Brandt, Bishop of Greensburg.

He served as assistant guestmaster at Saint Vincent Archabbey from 2002-2004, assistant master of ceremonies from 2002-2006 and manager of the Basilica Gift Shop from 2004-2006. He was named to the adjunct faculty at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2006.

His brother is Michael C. Mount, who is presently serving in the United States Navy in Jacksonville, Florida.
