Brother Xavier Makes First Vows

After spending a year as a novice, Brother Xavier O’Mara, O.S.B., professed simple vows as a Benedictine monk before Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B., on July 10, 2019 at Saint Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He will spend three years as a junior monk prior to making solemn profession of vows, or vows for life.

Brother Xavier (Timothy) O’Mara is the son of Barbara Helen O’Mara of Northborough, Massachusetts and the late John Cornelius O’Mara. His brothers are John O’Mara of Zurich, Switzerland and michael O’Mara of Boston. He is a 2004 graduate of Saint John’s High School, and earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Saint Vincent College in 2008.

He entered the monastic community of Saint Vincent Archabbey as a novice in 2018 and made first profession of monastic vows on July 10, 2019.

Following his profession he was assigned as assistant archivist and assistant to the dean of admission at Saint Vincent College.

He will begin studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in the fall of 2019.
