Saint Vincent College School of Social Sciences, Communication, and Education will present “The Spiritual Exercise of Creating” by stained glass artist Brother Mark Floreanini, O.S.B., as the next speaker in the sixth edition of its lecture series on Aging and Spirituality.

Brother Mark, assistant professor of fine arts at Saint Vincent College in the School of Humanities and Fine Arts, will speak at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Fred M. Rogers Center. His presentation will focus on the connection between spirituality and art and the importance of hobbies. It will include a hands-on demonstration of several arts and crafts that participants may want to consider exploring in their retirement years. Admission is free and open to the public.

A member of the Saint Vincent faculty since 2005, he earned a bachelor of arts degree from Saint Vincent College, a master of arts degree from Saint Vincent Seminary and a master of fine arts degree from Savannah College of Art and Design. He teaches drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, fibers and stained glass to undergraduates.

He has been working in art since the 1980s and owned a stained glass studio for eight years prior to entering Saint Vincent Archabbey.

The final presentation in the series will be given by Father Stephen Concordia, O.S.B., assistant professor of fine arts at Saint Vincent College, “Spirituality and Music,” on Tuesday, April 16.

Persons of all ages are welcome to attend and share in the discussion and questions.
