After spending a year as a novice and three years in temporary vows, Brother Luke Hsu, O.S.B., of Taiwan, professed solemn vows, or vows for life, on July 11 at Saint Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Pennsylvania, before Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B.
Brother Luke Hsu, O.S.B., is the son of Shiang-Ming Hsu and Eu-Lien Liu of Miaoli, Taiwan. He has an older sister, Pey-Shien Hsu.
He studied at National Chung Cheng University in Chiavi. He graduated with a degree in philosophy in 2006. After college, he fulfilled the military obligations of his country by joining the Substitute Military Service, from which he retired in 2007. He want back to school to study at the Institute of Taiwanese Literature at National Chengchi University, receiving a master’s degree in Taiwanese Literature in 2014.
He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey on July 1, 2015 and made simple profession of monastic vows on July 10, 2016. He made solemn profession of vows on July 11, 2019.
Following profession he was assigned as a student moderator, Wimmer Priory, Taiwan, and as sacristan and guest master.
