Brother George DeFazio Professes First Vows

After completing a year as a novice, Brother George (Brian) DeFazio of Pittsburgh, professed first vows as a Benedictine monk at Saint Vincent Archabbey on July 10.

He will then spend three years in temporary vows before professing solemn vows, or vows for life.

He is the son of Victor and Carol DeFazio of Pittsburgh. He has one brother, Jonathan.

A 2009 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, he earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy/history from Duquesne University in 2013. Brother George has participated in Boy Scouts of America, where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

During the vows ceremony four junior monks renewed their temporary vows, including Brother Lawrence Machia, O.S.B., Brother Ignatius Camello, O.S.B., Brother Mark Liatti, O.S.B., and Brother Matthew Hershey, O.S.B.
