Brother Anthony Grossi Ordained A Priest

 Brother Anthony J. Grossi, a Butler native who is a Benedictine of Saint Vincent Archabbey, was ordained a priest at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22 at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. Most Rev. Anthony G. Bosco, Bishop of Greensburg, presided.

Brother Anthony attended Butler Catholic Grade School and is a 1989 graduate of Butler High School. He received a bachelor of arts degree in history from Saint Vincent College in 1993 and a master of divinity degree from Saint Vincent Seminary in 1998.

He made his simple profession of monastic vows on July 10, 1995 at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. He made his solemn profession of vows on July 11, 1998. In 1998 he was ordained a deacon and served his diaconate year at Saint Benedict Parish, Carrolltown.

At Saint Vincent, he has served as sacristan (1994-1996), an academic counselor at Saint Vincent College (1996-present), and as a dormitory moderator at the College from 1997-98.

He is the son of James and Linda (Fagan) Grossi of Butler. He is one of four children John W. Grossi of Clarion, Mark A. Grossi of Butler and Mrs. Deanna Weaver of Atlanta, Georgia.
