Saint Vincent Gristmill Museum presents: Artisans of the Monastery, October 2007, multimedia art by monks of the Saint Vincent Monastery will be featured in an exhibit October 26 – November 10 at the Saint Vincent Gristmill Museum on Beatty Road. An opening reception will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday, October 26. The show is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays during regular Gristmill General Store hours.
The exhibit will feature a multitude of multimedia artwork by monks of the Saint Vincent Monastery. Some of these monks include Fr. Sebastian Samay, Fr. Phillip Kanfush, and Fr. Thomas More will display their fine hand-woven pieces and other fiber artworks. Br. Mark Floreanini and Br. Michael Gabler will display their paintings while Fr. Ananias Buccicone , Br. André Melli and Father Paul-Alexander Shutt will display their painted icons and iconography. Br. Mark will exhibit his ornate stained-glass pieces as well. Guests will be able to see rosaries hand crafted by Fr. Louie Sedlacko and Br. Gerard Klaric along with some pieces of calligraphy by Br. Michael Antonacci.
Br. Michael Antonacci of Jeanette is a novice of the Archabbey and a 2007 graduate of Saint Vincent College.
Fr. Ananias Buccicone of Tarentum is currently pastor of Queen of Peace Parish in Patton, Pennsylvania.
Br. Mark Floreanini of Alliance, Ohio. earned a master of fine arts degree from the Savannah College of Arts and Designs, and was appointed to the Saint Vincent College faculty in 2005.
Br. Michael Gabler of St. Marys is currently serving his deacon internship at Saint Benedict Parish, Carrolltown.
Fr. Phillip Kanfush of Sewickley serves as procurator of the Archabbey and faculty member of Saint Vincent College.
Br. Gerard Klaric of Lawrenceville is currently retired to the Archabbey.
Br. André Melli , of Vinhedo, São Paulo, Brazil ,is currently assistant director of the Basilica Gift Shop and manager of the Gristmill General Store.
Fr. Louis Sedlacko of Hostetter is currently retired to the Archabbey where he remains an avid gardener and skilled rosary maker using beads grown in his garden.
Father Paul-Alexander Shutt of Latrobe has taught Latin at Saint Vincent Seminary and taught French, Italian and Latin in the Modern and Classical Languages Department at Saint Vincent College.
Fr. Thomas More Sikora , of Avonmore, currently serves as assistant for maintenance at the gristmill and grist mill general store.
Fr. Sebastian Samay, born in Pécöl, Hungary, has served as Saint Vincent College faculty member and is an avid gardener.
