Archabbey To Hold Prayer Service, Groundbreaking For Cemetery Mausoleum Project

On Wednesday, November 2, at 2:30 p.m., the Benedictine monks of Saint Vincent Archabbey will commemorate All Souls Day with a public prayer service for the faithful departed at Saint Vincent Cemetery, and a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Mary, Mother of Mercy Chapel and Mausoleum. The new Mary, Mother of Mercy Chapel and Mausoleum will serve as a sanctuary for prayer and remembrance of family members, alumni of Saint Vincent Prep, College and Seminary, Oblates, parishioners and friends from throughout the region.

For more than 200 years, the cemetery has been a home and final resting place for Saint Vincent parishioners and monks. Over the years, many alumni and friends have developed meaningful relationships through Saint Vincent’s pastoral, educational, and missionary apostolates, and have expressed a desire to “come home” to Saint Vincent for their final place of rest.

In addition to the Chapel and Mausoleum, a full range of options for Christian burial will be available at Saint Vincent: mausoleum burial, inground burial, entombment of cremains in mausoleum or inground cremains burial, and memorialization of departed family members and loved ones, alumni, parishioners, Oblates and friends on a “Wall of Remembrance.”
