57th World Day of Prayer for Vocations

This Sunday, May 3, 2020, is the 57th World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Father Maximilian Maxwell, O.S.B., director of vocations for Saint Vincent Archabbey, lays out the schedule for our online observance of this special day. We invite everyone interested in a vocation to the religious life, family members and friends to join in this day, which will begin with the 10 a.m. Mass in the Archabbey Basilica. Some events are pre-recorded, while there will be some live events.

The schedule of events includes:

10 a.m. Mass with Father Paul Taylor, O.S.B., president of Saint Vincent College, and Father Maximilian.

11 a.m. Talk by Brother Barnabas O’Reilly, O.S.B., and Brother Cassian Edwards, O.S.B., who are presently seminarians at Saint Vincent Seminary on monastic vows.

1 p.m. Rosary walk for consecrated life and vocations.

2 p.m. Talk by Father Edward Mazich, O.S.B., rector of Saint Vincent Seminary, on Benedictine formation.

3 p.m. Talk by Brother Gregory Visca, O.S.B., and Father Killian Loch, O.S.B., director of campus ministry at Saint Vincent College, on the Rule of Saint Benedict

4 p.m. Talk by Father Canice McMullen, O.S.B., assistant director of the vocation office, on prayer and lectio divina.

6 p.m. Monks Live: Vocation Chat with Father Maximilian, Father Canice, Brother Albert Gahr, O.S.B., Father Boniface Hicks, O.S.B., and Father Edward.

7 p.m. Holy hour and talk by Father Boniface Hicks, O.S.B.

8 p.m. Compline with Benediction.
