John M. Elliott To Keynote October 2 Red Mass Wednesday, September 16, 2015
The Diocese of Greensburg and Saint Vincent Archabbey, College, and Seminary will hold the 48th annual Red Mass, for members of the bench and bar, at noon Friday, October 2 at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. Bishop Edward C. Malesic will preside at the Mass and give the homily. The keynote address will be given by John M. Elliott, chairman and chief executive officer of the Elliott Greenleaf law firm, with offices in Philadelphia, Blue Bell, Harrisburg, Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Wilmington, Delaware, is recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s top litigators. Brother Elliott C. Maloney, O.S.B., a monk and professor of New Testament and Biblical Languages at Saint Vincent Seminary, has received an honorable mention award from The Catholic Press Association for his book, Saint Paul, Master of the Spiritual Life “in Christ.” The book received the recognition in the category Scripture: Academic Studies. It is the result of more than 40 years of teaching about Saint Paul. Read More

Father Edward Mazich New Seminary Rector

Father Edward Mazich New Seminary Rector Wednesday, July 29, 2015
Father Edward Michael Mazich, O.S.B., a monk of Saint Vincent Archabbey, has been named the twelfth Rector of Saint Vincent Seminary. A member of the Benedictine community for 21 years, he has studied at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, receiving the Licentiate in Sacred Scripture (S.S.L.) in 2003. Father Edward continued his studies at the Gregorian University in Rome, earning a Licentiate in Fundamental Theology (S.T.L.) in 2005. He then completed his studies in England, receiving a Doctorate in Theology (D.Phil.) from the University of Oxford in 2009, having written his dissertation on John Henry Newman’s Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine.
